At Burley, we are committed to creating a more bikable world by designing products that are safer for people and the planet. The standard we hold ourselves to, The Burley Standard, is more than a set of guidelines or regulations; it’s how we put those company values into practice.
In 2022, we revamped our pet trailer assortment, a project which included the incorporation of bluesign® certified recycled fabrics into our pet products.
In 2023, we ramped up our sustainability efforts by introducing postconsumer recycled fabrics into our kid bike trailer collection.
Since 2023, 55% of all softgoods in Burley kid and pet bike trailers have been made from postconsumer recycled materials.
These materials are mostly derived from plastic water bottles that are processed through a recycling center and transformed into fabric. Burley has worked closely with our manufacturer to source this fabric, ensuring that it meets or exceeds all our safety and durability standards.
Integrating postconsumer recycled fabric into our kid collection is another step toward making Burley a more sustainable business and steward of our community.
This year alone, we are projecting our postconsumer recycled fabric will reuse more than 1 million plastic water bottles.
Our actions to conserve resources now will help us realize our vision of a future where everyone has access to bikes and safe places to ride them. When it comes to taking care of our community of riders and the environment, Burley is in it for the long haul.
