Burley & Outride Ask You to Pause for a Cause This September

  • 2 min read

EUGENE, OR (September 1, 2021) – This September, Burley and Outride are partnering on a fundraiser to encourage people to take a break from the hustle and stresses of everyday life and get out and ride.

Studies from Outride and their research partners show that getting out for a ride boosts your attention and improves your mood. Even a short ride does the trick! Research has shown that just a 20 minute ride can help lower symptoms of anxiety and depression and increase feelings of energy.

“During a time when more people than ever are using screens, it is hard to take a minute to pause from the digital world and be present in the outdoors around you,” stated Kim Marek, Burley’s marketing manager. “We would like to take this time as kids head back to school and people return to their physical offices to help people discover the mental health benefits that even just a few minutes on your bike can provide.”

From September 1st through September 15th, Burley will donate $10 to Outride’s programs for every like, share, or comment made on their Outride social media posts. Burley hopes to encourage people to take a minute to pause from their screens and enjoy a few moments of intentional time to themselves.

“We are excited to partner with Burley to get more youth and families cycling,” added Skye DeLano, Outride’s Executive Director. “We know riding bicycles has mental and physical benefits, and equally important, it’s a really fun way to bring families and communities together! Whether you’re enjoying the waning days of summer or kicking off your new back to school routine, we hope you’ll join us.”

Every dollar will help increase access to cycling and support thriving cycling communities around the US. Through research, school-based programs, and matching grants, Outride harnesses the health benefits of cycling and cultivates inclusive cycling communities. Since 2014, Outride has partnered with 200 schools (impacting 50,000+ youth annually) and granted $1M+ to community organizations to advance more equitable, inclusive, and healthy futures.

Burley and Outride hope you join them this September in taking a pause and getting out on two wheels.
