Age & Size Guide for Child Bike Seats

Minimum Age: 12 months. If your child is younger than 12 months, consult a pediatrician before use.
Maximum Child Weight: 40lbs (18kg).
Maximum Child Age: 5 years. Regardless of age, child must not exceed weight limit.

Rack Mount vs Frame Mount

Both options provide the same safe and comfortable ride, so this question often comes down to personal preference. Below are a few reasons why some people choose one over the other.

Why Choose Rack Mount?

If you already have a rack that meets the ISO 11243 standard with load capacity of rack ≥ 55 lbs (25 kg).
If you'd like to have a rack that can also be used to carry cargo when you aren't using it for a child bike seat.

The key difference between Burley Dash® bike seat models is the mounting and installation method. Burley’s Dash® series includes the Dash RM, Dash RM MIK HD, Dash FM and Dash X FM. Each model offers specific mounting options like frame mount (FM), rack mount (RM), or MIK HD compatibility. All models feature adjustable footrests, ergonomic seating, and easy installation tailored to different bike setups.

Compatibility depends on the model: The Dash FM mounts directly to the bike frame and is compatible with most bikes that have round seat tubes. The RM models require compatible rear racks. The Burley Rear Rack is made specifically for the Dash RM, but the RM model is also compatible with many other rear racks. The Dash RM MIK HD is compatible with factory installed MIK HD racks only.
